Aside from blogging, I find collecting postcards very therapeutic. Finding postcards in my mailbox just brings pure joy. Knowing that they have travelled from across the side of the globe is amazing, isn’t it? In this time and age where everything can be done in the internet, nothing compares to the fulfilment you get when you have a postcard or a letter in your hand.

My family is very involved in this postcard collection thing. Many times I have to ask the help of hubby and the kids in putting stamps on them. It’s like a family hobby, actually. I don’t know what my kids would like to collect when they are older. I don’t mind if they would collect postcards too... but maybe they could collect coins and buy gold coins from other collectors. Sounds like a good idea, don’t you think so?

Playing Restaurant City Again

It’s been awhile since I played Restaurant City. This was one of my favorite Facebook games but I have grown tired and bored of it because it takes a lot effort to get ingredients and to level up. So I decided to quit the game and tried another one.

But lately, I unblocked Restaurant City and checked out the game again. Now I noticed that there are a lot of improvements. Their restaurant system is different than before and they have new designs, decorations and features.

I played about 30 minutes and automatically the Restaurant closes after that. If you want to open longer, you need to pay with coins. I am not sure what the feature is about but I will sort it out one of these days.

Some people would like to have a car because they need it for transportation. In some cases, there are just people who have makeshift vehicles—as long as it gets them to their destination.

But for others, they buy cars for collection and so that they can dress up their wheels. They make them really shiny on the outside and lint-free on the inside. Tires have tire black so that they look black and shiny.

And the sounds…oh boy…these can really be expensive. They buy the latest in digital equipment along with speakers and subwoofer so that wherever they go, they can party with the best sounds. These are very expensive, but well, the image is worth it.

I am not really a certified fashionista, but I have to admit that I love looking at celebrity photos and check out the latest in fashion. I don’t do make up every day, either, as I don’t have to dress up for a job in an office or something. But I do know how to put on makeup, and beauty products fascinate me. Sometimes I am tempted to just put on makeup while I do my online work. I mean there are no officemates or a boss to check on whether or not I look good, but looking good makes you feel good, right?

Ok , then maybe it’s time to bring out those eyelash growth products, lipsticks and eyeliners!

This Year's Christmas

Making personalized gifts for the season would have saved me a lot cost wise but I just did not have the time to do it myself. In fact the money intended for gifts and Christmas dinner I had to give away to those typhoon victims who need it the most.

So this Christmas would be a bit different from the Christmases past. I did not have the time to buy gifts, let alone make or wrap them. Maybe next Christmas I should be more prepared for the gift-giving. Hopefully I would even have time to make boxes. A simple box cutter could do just the trick.

It’s fun to just be on the lookout for yearend sales. My first stop would be children’s clothes and some little things my kids would enjoy. Of course I don’t do impulsive shopping that much—sometimes it pays to wait for the last minute where prices really drop. Going around the furniture department in stores also amuse me, next to going to the electronics department. It could be a perfect “me” time, since I would be able to do a mental mixing and matching the furniture for sale with what we have in the house right now.

I also love looking at vintage items, rustic dining table. I love the ones that come with chairs, since it would be a challenge looking for ones that would match with them.

Getting Organized

Some people would call me a stay at home mom. I agree, but I am not staying at home for nothing. I am very much of a working mom, actually. In fact, I may be working a lot more than any other employed mom that I know. I work ‘til the wee hours of the morning sometimes, even. But the good thing about working at home is that I can adjust my schedules and I can spend time with my family if I want to. I could even bring my work anywhere, since I do online jobs.

Now that I have more clients, I think that I might need the help of a Dokmee document management software. I guess it would be worth the investment since I would be more organized with my files and records if I’d have one of these.

Another great reason to watch a basketball season is because of the cheerleaders. They look really good dancing and cheering for their team. Here in the country, top University cheerleaders also compete during the basketball season. Aside from the cheerleading trophies that they will receive, nothing amounts to the prestige of being the best cheerleaders of the season.

How can you not admire these cheerleaders when they move flawlessly, clapping their hands rigidly and all smile all throughout the game. The discipline this cheerer does is almost the same as their athletes or players. They eat right, practice and train well.

I am planning to put up a little garden in front of my windows. I want to put something green so that my eyes will see something refreshing. Now, my only problem is getting a metal hose. I need one because ordinary hoses will not last. We have a lot of dogs and cats here in our compound. They tend to bite anything they see once they get off their leash! Hehehe…

Anyway, as for the plants, I only need to take a few pots from my mom’s garder. LOL!!!

Relocating to Manila?

My husband and I have been talking about relocating to Manila once he finds work abroad. Not that we love a busy and hectic lifestyle but the opportunities for me as a blogger and our dream to migrate abroad will make us nearer to embassies.

So now, though the decision is not yet final, I have been checking out houses for rent in Manila. I have seen a lot of prospective places to rent and I can’t help but noticed that townhouses or condominiums are also appealing especially they are offering rent to own schemes at very affordable price. I am sure these metal buildings are sturdy but having children makes me afraid of heights.

Anyway, the idea is there but the concrete decision is nowhere as of now. I am not sure that relocating to Manila is worth the risk.

Whenever there are scenes about junk cars in American movies, I would often see those auto lifts that pile up those crushed cars in tall heaps. I guess these services are just very common in the United States.

I have yet to see one in my country though. Maybe that is because even the oldest car is not sold to the junk shop as many owners would still want to revive their old cars. Designer Gardens

It is always nice to have a home in the suburbs with an ample space for a wide garden. It would be very nice to take morning walks and afternoon strolls surrounded by hedges while smelling flowers here and there. Or you could have a bench there, curl up in the afternoon and read.

But having an expansive garden with a large space where grasses are planted could entail a lot of maintenance. You will have to invest in garden equipment like mowers, redmax leaf blowers, cutters, shearing scissors, etc. And well, if you are working you will need at least a helper who will do the watering of the plants and the removal of dried leaves. It can be hard work having a garden, too.

I have been trying to cut down on my calorie intake but I don’t know why it seems as if nothing is happening and I still weigh the same. I guess what I really need to include in my daily routine is a strict exercise regimen. Of course, that’s like shooting for the moon because as it is my daily schedule is already filled to the rafters, so to speak, and I don’t think I can add another physical activity on the list.

It seems as if I would have to resort to taking diet or weight loss supplements if I really want to lose weight; something that’s very potent, perhaps something like phenphedrine. I heard that it stimulates the metabolism and reduces the appetite of its users.

It’s probably the best weight loss supplement for me to try. But of course I would have to ask my doctor first if it really is safe to take it or if he can offer me other alternatives.

I cannot deny the fact that I am aging. In about 2 months I will be turning a year older. Since that is a fact of life, I have accepted the reality that I have lost some of the vital nutrients I used to have in my body and the level of my hormones has gone down as well. She’s Gone, Finally

So my computer, the desktop I’ve been using for so many years, finally died down on me. Initially I thought I can still revive it. We tried to, but to no avail. It would have been better if it were the thrust bearings of the PC that needed replacement. But the problem is so much worse than that.

My husband says it’s irreparable. So I have to live with that. I should be crying because I spent many a good years with that PC. However at the moment, I am very much concerned about the files that are stored in the hard drive of the PC.

I still don’t know if the technician will be able to retrieve all the files. If I had known this would happen I would’ve bought an external hard disk drive a long time ago. Then I wouldn’t be worrying too much today. I can’t even upload pictures in my blog posts because the files are there!

Traveling Comfortably in a Motor Home

The greatest journey of our family, which began last Friday of last week and culminated the following day, was both exciting and arduous. It was exciting because we all knew that we were finally coming home and arduous because it was physically exhausting to stay on a ship overnight. Not to mention that it was mentally exhausting too.

I was very alert during the whole journey because I was traveling with my kids. We all know how treacherous the seas can be. Actually, all forms of travel are treacherous and risky. But I was actually thinking that if we had a motor home, I probably would’ve traveled with fewer worries in my mind. My kids would be comfortable and they will feel closer to home because of the atmosphere inside the motor home.

But I don’t know if there are any mobile homes for sale here. We don’t even have a car to begin with! Besides, buying a motor home is not something you can do at the spur of the moment.

As you all know, we are already here in CDO and savoring our 2nd day as official “Cagayanos”. To tell you honestly, I am so excited that I think I haven’t been able to sit still for more than 30 minutes! Finding the Perfect Fit

Even if I work from home there are times when I still have to go out to run some errands, buy groceries, go to the bank or spend quality time with my family at the malls. Sometimes I also go out for social and business meetings. Since I don’t dress up for work, I make sure that I look my best every time I go on those outings I mentioned earlier.

I do a lot of commuting so you can just imagine how badly I need comfortable shoes that would make life a lot easier for me. I must say that my feet are bigger in size compared to most girls and that’s probably because I’m somewhat tall. So you can just imagine how tough it is for me to find shoes that fit me perfectly.

Alert to Avoid Accidents

I was watching the news last night and I was disheartened by yet another road accident that took place in a highway in a province somewhere in the southernmost part of Luzon. A bus that was homebound and loaded with employees that just had their company outing lost control and bumped another vehicle causing it to fall into a shallow ditch.

As of last night, 26 people were wounded. Although that’s good news, considering that there weren’t any fatalities, it’s still a cause for concern especially for other motorists. Why? Well, just imagine if you became the hapless victim of a wayward vehicle. You can’t do anything to avoid what’s about to happen because your fate lies in the hands of the other driver.

-Whenever I’m working online, I always log in to my instant messaging account at the same time so that when I find myself at a loss for ideas or words, I would ping a friend on my contact list and chat with them until I get my groove back. Yesterday was no exception. I felt myself being drained of my creative juices so I decided to chat with a friend for a while.

I must admit I had fun chatting with her and that may be the reason why I was able to work seamlessly afterward. She told me about this effeminate professor she had back in college whom she saw again at the mall after a decade. She couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw him because from the lanky professor who taught her college algebra, he was now beefed up and looking every inch a body builder!

This Generation’s Get-Up

I’m happy to say that my kids are still in that phase where they still ask for my opinion on certain things – what they should do with a school project, if they should go out and play with this friend or that and also what they should wear when they go out or when we go the mall.

Why do I take delight on this fact? Well, I see a lot of young ones today who seem to dress to their heart’s content. It’s as if they don’t care what other people think about them, they just have to dress the way they want to, unmindful of how it may reflect on their parents. Case in point: I often see young girls and boys dressed in hip hop clothes even if their attires don’t flatter them.

Pardon me for being killjoy. I know that when it comes to things like that, the cliché “to each his own” takes precedence. But hey, I’m a mother through and through so I can’t help but be concerned even if it’s not appreciated.

The calamity that struck Japan was unbelievable. It was also disheartening. How to Decide What Educational Field is Right for You

There is so much to consider when you think of a job in teaching. This is a career that one carries with them for a lifetime. There are so many wonderful aspects to it, and yet so much to decide upon at the beginning. You are going to have to make some choices up front that will shape the type of career that you enjoy. Though there is much to think about, if you take your time and really plot it out, you can reap the rewards. So when it comes to a job in teaching, how do you know what educational field is right for you? This is a very important path to choose and one that you need to think through with great attention to detail.

What Are Your Likes and Dislikes?

There are certain things that we like and certain things that we don’t like. If for example you do not like dealing with great attention to detail, then perhaps choosing a field such as physics is not for you. If you want to help students but want to fall back on a hobby of yours, then you may find that a field such as shop or music is a great calling for you. Falling back on the things that you like to do or alternatively don’t like to do can be a great indicator for what field you should go into. Though many teachers don’t stop to think of this ahead of time, it can be a wise consideration to find a good fit for your career path.

What Are You Good At?

If you have never been good at math, then you likely won’t want to teach math in your profession. If you have always enjoyed writing, then perhaps teaching an English class is a good fit. You want to consider the things that you are good at in life. You also want to consider what you have been good at in school, both as a student and as you see yourself as a teacher. This is a field that you will choose and likely stick with for years, so choose carefully. Relying on what you are good at or what you are not good at can make for great indicators and help to make your choice clear. If you have traveled a lot or know a lot about other cultures, then a teaching job in social studies may be a good fit.

How Do You Want to Help Students?

You are going to have to teach what level of students you want to teach, and for some this can be the most difficult decision possible. Do you want to help students as they prepare for college in their high school years? Though this can be a tough age, it can also be a great one for really shaping the life of a student. Do you want to be there to help students when they first enter school at the elementary level? This too can be a tough age to help with, but a very fun one. Each stage has its own pros and cons, and also offers different ways to help students. So think carefully about what and how you want to help students and then decide upon the age group that you think is the best fit for you accordingly.

Cheap Eyeglasses

Too much working in front of the computer and not getting enough sleep are a bad combination for the eyes. And that is what happened to me.

I work a lot in front of the computer and stay up late, sometimes until the next morning, and just sleep at daytime. But working is putting too much stress for the eyes that I why I ended up with a problematic vision.

But since work is something that I cannot avoid, I ended up going to the optometrist in order to get my eyes checked. And true enough, I needed glasses. Thankfully, the shop I went to at the mall offers cheap eyeglasses. They work fast, too, so I was able to get mine in no time.

I guess there is no turning back for my eyesight. If ever, I can just prevent it from getting worse by taking frequent short rests from my work and also eating Vitamin A rich foods.

Age Appropriate Gifts

I have something to share with you. You know what? I don’t really feel like I am ageing. Haha Yeah, I know, of course my age adds up every year, but it seems I don’t feel like my age at all. I still feel like a young professional in my ideals.

But of course, I can already feel the effects of ageing in my body. I do feel aches and pains from time to time. And I cannot deny the fact that I am going to have a teenage daughter soon. Last Christmas, while I bought toys for her younger siblings, my eldest daughter got gadgets. These were already age appropriate for her because she is quite techie.

Well there are also other great gifts for teenager girls out there. But it really depends on what your child prefers. Since mine likes to pursue anything related to computers and gizmos, these are of course what she got from us.

That is why I am thinking of giving away some small items that would have my website printed on it so that I can spread the word about my business. I am looking into discount promotional gifts that are small and cheap but are useful to people. Keychains and pens would be nice but I am sure that there are other more creative items out there. All I have to do is look

Just a few weeks ago, I found myself looking at the mirror and checking on my face. I saw a lot of pimples sprouting on my forehead and even under my nostrils. Not Ready to Leave Them

Recently, I was given a very tempting job offer. The pay was great, benefits were awesome but there was a downside. Since I would be part of the managerial staff, I would have to work from Monday to Saturday and even during holidays and also be on call.

As a mother, I can’t afford to work almost 7 days a week. Well, I can do that if I would work from home. But since I would have to report to the office every day, that really wasn’t a viable option. My kids are already used to having me around and I can’t subject them to the pain of leaving them behind to go to work and having less time for them. It’s funny how I wait for management jobs to land on my lap and then when one does, I have to desist.

When you’re a mother, your kids always come first no matter what you have to give up in exchange for them. I can always work from home and I can always look for more opportunities to earn money while being a SAHM. But I only get one shot at being a mom.

Should I Branch Out?

I’m seriously considering turning my small business into a full-scale one, complete with all the works. Presently, it’s just me who takes care of everything and to tell you quite frankly, it can get tiring. Not to mention that it can get physically and mentally draining.

So I’m thinking of branching out. I don’t mean really branching out, as in renting an office space and setting up several business desktops for my staff. I’m basically just considering hiring someone to help me run the business. Perhaps someone who can take care of the paperwork while all other things, especially technical ones, will still be delegated to me.

Of course, that would mean additional expense for me but at least I won’t end the day drained and I’ll still have time left each night to spend and play with my kids. So now, should I branch out or do I just look for someone who can help me, sort of like a part-time virtual assistant?

What type of furniture do you fancy?

Some people I know just dig modern furniture, while some, I believe, do not bother with the new types of furniture because some feel that it is too cold, unwelcoming, and too clean. These minimalistic approaches that some people do oh so passionately drive people crazy – especially the guests. But then again, there are some people who have successfully managed to merge both modern and rustic appeal, but most people fail. So for those who have done this well enough, I applaud you.

As for me and my house, I tend to lean towards the more rustic pieces because it feels like it has a bit more character, but then again, there are days when the modern types of furniture catch my fancy. I guess it depends on the day to day mood of a person, so the best way to deal with it is to merge both words. For these instances, I think people would need the help of Extreme Makeover to make sure the house looks warm yet up to date still.

There are days when I blaze with work ideas and discovering opportunities. On some days, I also allow myself some peace and quiet and search for odds and ends, not necessarily linked to work or world domination.

Today, my searches were about home builders and the like. See, I definitely dream of having a nice place to call my own, with all the fixtures and designs that I plan to put inside my house. But sometimes when funds are steep, the only thing I can allow myself is to dream. So there I was, tapping away searching for home builders cedar rapids ia, banisters, paneling, roof materials, and possible architecture designs and stuff of interest.

I got a lot of ideas out of that, so like in Blue’s Clues, I took out my handy dandy notebook and started jotting things down. My daughter sauntered by and asked me what I was doing and so I shared the pieces of ideas that I would like in a home. When I asked her about what she wanted, she gave me some ideas on what she would like in her dream house. Although not exactly as stable or realistic, it was a relief to some extent hearing about what she had to say about these things and even making me smile because she and I were pretty much sharing the same dreams.

If I had my own home, I think I would definitely have a home office to myself. Why not? A working mom should have something right? A small place to call her own – an office or something. Quite satisfactory, I presume.

But that’s all dreams for now.

As what a song once said, “to dream the impossible dream…” well, we are all free to make those dreams come true, and to dream more dreams to fulfill.
